My name is Derek Schwab and I serve with the Information Technology team at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.  My roll involves managing all of the infrastructure supporting over 200 workstations, including over 30 servers plus numerous switches and routers.

Prior to joining the staff at JFBC, I was IT Director for an Atlanta-based development company were I oversaw a network of over 150 workstations spread between 10+ locations.

When I’m not involved in ministry, I have plenty to keep me busy.  One of my hobbies is 4×4’s and off-roading, and I serve as a partner and “Techie” at Zuwharrie where I manage all technical aspects of a high-traffic web site and forum and play an active role in planning of a semi-annual off-road event.

I am also actively involved in the open source software community.  I currently serve as a Project Manager and Systems Engineer at Simple Machines.  At Simple Machines I help lead the numerous teams of volunteers involved in the development, marketing, distribution, and support of a free web-based forum application.  I also manage and support a Linux cluster running the Simple Machines support forum and download site.
